Perth and Australia in general is famous for its brunch spots. Cafes and restaurants providing a mix of different dishes for foodies to satisfy them in-between breakfast and lunch. From french toast to pancakes to a full ‘Aussie’ breakfast, it is the home of the decent brunch.
The Blue Duck is a restaurant in Cottesloe, hanging out over the soft white sands of the beach overlooking the ocean and Rottnest Island in the distance. The container ships bobbing on the horizon, it is a wonderful place for a relaxing brunch. Their menu changes seasonally, but it is here that I first discovered sweet french toast. French toast drenched in apricots, figs, raisins, orange and fig syrup, and a generous spoonful of mascarpone.
Their full breakfast is also excellent, as is their eggs and hollandaise (a sort of Eggs Benedict), everything is made fresh and the local produce they use is top notch, none of it is cheap artificial food. You get what you pay for, and that is good quality food, fabulous views, and top service. They also do the best Iced Chocolate I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve tried them all out.
If you’re in Perth and looking for a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, definitely head to Blue Duck. You don’t have to reserve a table as they usually have plenty, but if you want one on the balcony overlooking the ocean you may want to call ahead and ask them to save one for you.
The Blue Duck are open 7 days a week for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, from 7am-late. Breakfast costs between $15-$30 per person including drinks and service charge.
