The New York Cafe is an institution in Budapest. It opened in 1894, and is considered the most beautiful coffee house in the World. Full of opulence and glory, and old-world charm, the food is excellent and the atmosphere unbeatable. Located in the Boscolo Hotel near the Jewish Quarter of Budapest, The New York Cafe is a must for any visitor.
The Jerusalem Artichoke Soup was delicious, full of flvaour, as was the roasted rose duck breast. The duck breast was tender and the chestnut noodles complimented the duck perfectly.
We then went back for breakfast later in the week, and feasted on a large selection including eggs, fruit and yoghurt, pastries, and pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly, however the service was really quite slow and unfriendly.
The only let down about New York Cafe other than the service is that it is very much a tourist trap, it’s full of tourists with their SLR cameras snapping away throughout their meal rather than just enjoying their surroundings. Go for the food and experience alone.
